Both the glacier and village are easily accessible from Wanaka, Queenstown, and Christchurch. Public transport is also available to take you to the village, but reaching the glacier itself is an extra stroll or hike. The face of Fox Glacier can be seen by following the Fox Glacier South Side Walkway, and leads through to the first viewpoint.
