There is a stream you cross at the start of the walk if you have a spare pair of sandals or shoes that you can get wet it is a good idea to bring them as well. Or you can borrow from our supply at our Makarora office when you check in. <\/p><\/blockquote>\n What gear do I need to bring?<\/strong><\/p>\n Insect repellent, sunglasses and camera are recommended. Also anything else for your personal comfort.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n Should I take food with me?<\/strong><\/p>\n The total trip time is 4 hours. Bringing along some snacks or lunch is a good idea.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n What time do I need to check in?<\/strong><\/p>\n We ask that you arrive at our Makarora office 30 minutes before your departure time.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n Where do I need to check in?<\/strong><\/p>\n The check in location is at our Makarora Office located inside the Makarora Tourist Centre and Cafe. Address: 5944 Haast Pass-Makarora Rd. Can I stay overnight in Siberia?<\/strong><\/p>\n Yes. It can be arranged that the jet boat will pick you up the next day, allowing time to stay overnight in the Siberia Valley. Siberia Hut beds have to be pre-booked on-line with Department of Conservation from 01 Dec<\/span> to 08 April<\/span> to help eliminate overcrowding. Booking can be accessed at www.doc.govt.nz<\/a><\/p>\n If you have any problem booking you would be advised to email Department of Conservation, Wanaka New Zealand at wanakavc@doc.govt.nz<\/a>. Note: for overnight stays \u2013 Siberia Experience provides transport into and out of the Mt Aspiring National Park by way of a scenic flight (Southern Alps Air) and jetboat (Wilkin River Jets) \u2013 you are responsible for all other aspects of your trip outside of the transportation.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n How hard is the walk?<\/strong><\/p>\n You need a moderate level of fitness. We take into consideration couples, families and groups and where possible keep them together.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n Is it cold in the aircraft?<\/strong><\/p>\n All aircraft are equipped with a heater that is operated by the pilot if required.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n What should I wear?<\/strong><\/p>\n During the flight normal clothes are fine with enclosed footwear recommended but not required. The temperature is generally a few degrees Celsius cooler in Milford Sound than in Wanaka. Bringing a warmer outer layer and water proof layer is recommended.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n What should I bring on the flight?<\/strong><\/p>\n Your camera and sunglasses are a must. Insect repellent is a good idea if you are landing in Milford.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n Can I use my cell phone during flight?<\/strong><\/p>\n You are more than welcome to leave your cell phone on during flight. The majority of our flights are outside cell phone reception including Milford Sound.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n How long is the boat cruise?<\/strong><\/p>\n The boat cruise lasts two hours. You pilot will make sure you get your boat tickets and get on the correct boat. Your pilot will also meet you when you disembark your boat inside the main ferry terminal.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n Is there lunch available?<\/strong><\/p>\n A packed lunch can be arranged for the Milford Sound Glacier Flight and Cruise at the time of booking for an extra cost. On the boat cruise free tea, coffee and water is provided although no food. Most people bring their own food.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n What are your minimum numbers?<\/strong><\/p>\n Our minimum numbers for a booking to be confirmed is two people. We ask that you call the day prior to departure to check if the booking is confirmed.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n Can you take disabled passengers?<\/strong><\/p>\n Yes we can. The best part of being involved in the business for Anne is seeing the delight on the client\u2019s faces and listening to the excited chatter when they return from their scenic adventure.<\/p>\n Originally from Southland, Anne grew up on a farm in a family of 6 children. She enjoys hiking, exploring different places, flying (as a passenger, not a pilot), being at home with their animals and spending time with family and friends.<\/p>\n After moving to Wanaka he started working as a commercial pilot flying whitebait from the West Coast and flying people to Milford Sound.<\/p>\n Outside flying Will enjoys hunting and spending time with friends.<\/p>\n In her spare time she enjoys biking, yoga and spending time with family and friends.<\/p>\n Outside flying he enjoys mountain biking and exploring the Central Otago outdoors.<\/p>\n James grew up in Christchurch and spent a lot of time tramping in the valleys of the central Southern Alps. He has been flying from Wanaka and Makarora for over 30 years , has been CEO of Southern Alps Air for 20+ years and is still captivated by the spectacular landscape he fly\u2019s through year round.<\/p>\n

Growing up on a farm in the deep south of New Zealand, aviation has always been Bayleigh\u2019s passion. Inspired to one day become a pilot by her grandfather and cousin, she graduated from aviation college with a Diploma in General Aviation.<\/p>\n

Raised in Wellington he moved to Canterbury and after working in different roles outside aviation he completed his commercial pilot training in Christchurch. He started his flying career instructing in Wanaka and has now transitioned to commercial flying.<\/p>\n <\/h3>\n
